dc.description.abstract	Αντικείμενο της παρούσας πτυχιακής εργασίας είναι η μελέτη της κατάστασης διατήρησης και οι προτεινόμενες επεμβάσεις για τη συντήρηση των τοιχογραφιών του ναού Αγίου Ιωάννη των Μπενιζέλων (Μερκάτη), που βρίσκεται στο χώρο του Αρχαίου Ελαιώνα στο Αιγάλεω. Ο ναός παρουσιάζει φθορές που οφείλονται στην επίδραση των περιβαλλοντικών συνθηκών, περιστασιακών βανδαλισμών και σε νεότερες επεμβάσεις, όπως επιζωγραφίσεις. Ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον παρουσιάζουν οι διαφορετικές εικονογραφικές φάσεις του ναού που αποτελούν αντικείμενο αρχαιολογικής μελέτης με μεγάλη επιστημονική και εκπαιδευτική αξία. Τα βασικά ερευνητικά ερωτήματα που συγκροτούν τις βασικές ενότητες της παρούσας μελέτης είναι η αναγνώριση της τεχνολογίας κατασκευής και η τεκμηρίωση των διαφορετικών εικονογραφικών φάσεων, οι παράγοντες φθοράς και η αξιολόγηση της επίδρασής τους στις τοιχογραφίες, η αποτίμηση των παλαιότερων επεμβάσεων και η διατύπωση των κατάλληλων επεμβάσεων συντήρησης σε σχέση με τις αξίες του μνημείου που θα διατηρηθούν και αναδειχθούν. Για την επίτευξη των παραπάνω στόχων δόθηκε έμφαση στην εφαρμογή τεχνικών μη καταστρεπτικού ελέγχου, όπως η υπέρυθρη θερμογραφία, η μικροσκοπική εξέταση με φορητό ψηφιακό μικροσκόπιο, η εξέταση με εφαπτομενικό φωτισμό, η μακροφωτογράφιση, η εξέταση με υπεριώδη ακτινοβολία κ.ά. Η εργασία περιλαμβάνει την τεκμηρίωση της τεχνολογίας και των υλικών κατασκευής, την καταγραφή των διαφορετικών φάσεων των τοιχογραφιών σε συνδυασμό με την σχεδιαστική τεκμηρίωσή τους, την καταγραφή παλαιότερων επεμβάσεων συντήρησης, τη μελέτη της παθολογίας, των παραγόντων φθοράς, όπως η ανερχόμενη υγρασία, η υγρασία από διήθηση, οι βιολογικοί παράγοντες και ο ανθρώπινος παράγοντας, την καταγραφή, γραφική, και φωτογραφική τεκμηρίωση των φθορών, τις προτάσεις για τη συντήρηση των τοιχογραφιών που περιλαμβάνουν επεμβάσεις στερέωσης κονιάματος, απομάκρυνσης παλαιότερων επεμβάσεων, περιμετρικής συγκράτησης κονιάματος και συμπλήρωσης απωλειών κονιάματος, επεμβάσεις στερέωσης ζωγραφικής επιφάνειας. επιφανειακού καθαρισμού, αισθητικής αποκατάστασης και προτάσεις ανασύνθεσης και τοποθέτησης σε νέο υποστήριγμα των σπαραγμάτων του τέμπλου καθώς και γενικό πλαίσιο για την εξέταση της πιθανότητας απόσπασης νεότερων στρωμάτων.	el

dc.description.abstracttranslated	The subject of this thesis is the study of the state of conservation and the proposed interventions for the conservation of the frescoes of the church of St. John of Benizelos (Mercati), located in the area of the Ancient Olive Grove in Egaleo. The church has suffered from deterioration due to the effects of environmental conditions, occasional vandalism and more recent interventions, such as repainting. Of particular interest is the layering and the different iconographic phases of the church, which is an example of continuous use and is an interesting object of archaeological study with great scientific and educational value. The main research questions, which are the main sections of this study, are the identification of the techniques of construction and the documentation of the different iconographic phases, the factors of deterioration and the evaluation of their effect on the wall paintings, the assessment of the past interventions and the proposal of appropriate conservation interventions in relation to the values of the monument to be preserved and enhanced. To achieve the above objectives, emphasis was placed on the application of non-destructive techniques of examination, such as infrared thermography, microscopic examination with a portable digital microscope, examination with raking light, macrophotography, examination with ultraviolet radiation, etc. The study includes the documentation of the technology and materials of construction, the recording of the different phases of the wall paintings in conjunction with their graphic documentation, the recording of past conservation interventions, the study of pathology, deterioration factors such as rising damp, moisture from infiltration, biological factors and the human factor, the recording, graphical, and photographic documentation of the deterioration, the proposals for the conservation of the wall paintings including consolidation of the mortar, removal of older interventions, interventions for the peripheral retention of mortar and filling of mortar losses, and interventions for the consolidation of the painted surface, surface cleaning, aesthetic reintegration, and proposals for the reassembly and repositioning of the fragments of wall paintings of the build altarpiece on a new support, as well as a general framework for examining the possibility of detaching newer overpaintings.	el
