dc.description.abstract	Στους αιώνες που χαρακτηρίζουν την ανθρώπινη εξέλιξη στον πλανήτη, τα ορυχεία αποτελούσαν την πηγή απόκτησης της πρώτης ύλης που συνέβαλε στην πραγματοποίηση κάθε ονείρου και ανθρώπινης επιθυμίας. Τα ορυχεία συμβολίζουν επίσης την αλόγιστη εξόρυξη και αλλοίωση των οικοσυστημάτων ενώ τη μεταλλευτική σκαπάνη συνοδεύουν ανοιχτές πληγές, πλέον σε κάθε γωνιά του κόσμου με τις επιπτώσεις να είναι εμφανείς αιώνες μετά. Η πτυχιακή εργασία «Metamorphism: A process of metamorphosis and degradation», εξερευνά τις έννοιες της καταστροφής, της αποδόμησης, της αλλαγής και της αναγέννησης μεταξύ ανθρώπου και φύσης μέσα από τη φωτογραφική πράξη. Κάθε φωτογραφία επικεντρώνεται στο τοπίο απ’όπου γεννιέται η πρώτη ύλη καθώς ο φωτογραφικός φακός μελετά την κλίμακα, τον ανθρώπινο ρόλο και τον γεωλογικό χρόνο ακροβατώντας ανάμεσα στη λογική και τον μύθο.	el

dc.description.abstracttranslated	Throughout the centuries of human evolution on the planet, mines have been the source of the raw materials that have contributed to the realisation of every dream and human desire, from the bustling cities of millions of inhabitants to the invention of the car and the mobile phones that each of us owns. Mines symbolize the human dream of power and growth, on the threshold of frivolous mining and ecosystem alteration as a result of rapid consumerism and urbanization. Mining excavations are accompanied by open wounds, now in every corner of the world, with the effects evident centuries later. The thesis «Metamorphism: A process of metamorphosis and degradation», explores the concepts of destruction, degradation, change and rebirth in the interaction between man and nature through photography. The role of man is explored within the example of the history of Lavrio. How a dream managed to deconstruct the natural landscape, rebuilding a new city and economy as well as a man-made landscape, and how the history of the past is used in the present to raise awareness. Each photograph focuses on the landscape from which the raw material is born as the lens studies scale, human involvement and the geologic time, straddling the line between reality and myth.	el
