dc.description.abstract	Η διπλωματική εργασία πραγματεύεται την Αυτοματοποιημένη ταξινόμηση έργων τέχνης ως προς το δημιουργό με χρήση τεχνικών επεξεργασίας εικόνας και αναγνώρισης προτύπων. Η μελέτη εξετάζει τις δυνατότητες της μηχανικής όρασης και των αλγορίθμων ταξινόμησης στη διαδικασία αναγνώρισης και κατηγοριοποίησης καλλιτεχνικών έργων, ειδικά όταν πρόκειται για πίνακες ζωγραφικής από διάφορους καλλιτέχνες. Για την επίτευξη του στόχου αυτού, δημιουργήθηκε μια βάση δεδομένων ψηφιοποιημένων έργων τέχνης από το Wikiart, περιλαμβάνοντας έργα πέντε διάσημων καλλιτεχνών. Ακολούθως, τα έργα επεξεργάστηκαν στο περιβάλλον Matlab, με στόχο την εξαγωγή χαρακτηριστικών που αναδεικνύουν την τεχνοτροπία των καλλιτεχνών αυτών. Οι ταξινομητές που χρησιμοποιήθηκαν περιλαμβάνουν τους K-NN, Decision Trees, Linear Discriminant Classifier, και SVM, με τα δεδομένα να χωρίζονται σε σύνολα εκπαίδευσης και αξιολόγησης. Τα αποτελέσματα έδειξαν ότι η χρήση χαρακτηριστικών εικόνας και προηγμένων αλγορίθμων ταξινόμησης μπορεί να προσφέρει αξιόπιστη κατηγοριοποίηση έργων τέχνης, ενώ προτείνονται βελτιώσεις όπως η ενσωμάτωση τεχνικών βαθιάς μάθησης και η διεύρυνση της βάσης δεδομένων για καλύτερη γενίκευση και απόδοση του συστήματος ταξινόμησης.	el

dc.description.abstracttranslated	The thesis deals with the Automated Classification of Artworks by Creator using Image Processing and Pattern Recognition Techniques. The study explores the capabilities of computer vision and classification algorithms in the process of recognizing and categorizing artistic works, particularly paintings by various artists. To achieve this goal, a database of digitized artworks from Wikiart was created, including works by five renowned artists. Subsequently, the artworks were processed in the Matlab environment, aiming to extract features that highlight the style of these artists. The classifiers used include K-NN, Decision Trees, Linear Discriminant Classifier, and SVM, with the data split into training and evaluation sets. The results indicated that the use of image features and advanced classification algorithms can provide reliable categorization of artworks. Future improvements are suggested, such as the integration of deep learning techniques and the expansion of the database with more artists and works for better generalization and performance of the classification system.	el
